Ambulance crews were called to a rural property at about 10.37pm last Tuesday to treat a man suffering serious facial burns from an exploding firework.
The man also suffered a large cut to one of his eyes.
He was transported by ambulance to the Gloucester Soldiers Memorial Hospital before being airlifted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
The man was later transferred to the Sydney Eye Hospital where he underwent surgery last Wednesday.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Gloucester late on New Year's Eve to airlift a man injured by an exploding firework.
