A GROUP from Gloucester Little Athletics Club travelled to Sydney on the weekend of March 22 and 23 to compete in the State Little Athletics Championships. Although only a small club, Gloucester sent a team of five athletes.

Daniel Hughes finished 13th in the under 17s boys’ 1500m walk in a time of 12 minutes and 49 seconds. Kenneth Wamsley was 10th in the under 17s shot put (5kg) throwing a distance of 12.14m.
Andrew Hughes came 12th in the under 14s 1500m finishing in a time of 13 minutes.
Harrison Clarke competed in three events, narrowly missing a medal in the under 12s boys’ long jump in which he finished fourth after jumping 5.4m. He also finished seventh in the triple jump with a new personal best of 10.81m and 13th in the 100m in a time of 12.77 seconds.
Kieran Schneider also narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in the under 13s boys’ shot put (3kg) with a personal best throw of 12.18m.
