The final wrap for the 16th festival has been completed with participants giving the event an overall rating of 4.4 out of five.
“The revamped Elizabethan Faire proved a vote-winner, as did the return of Newcastle’s Stooged Theatre for the performances of The Merchant of Venice,” chairperson Maureen Hjorth said.
“Many written comments from regular guests were submitted stating that the shows were the ‘best since the festival started’, with a perfect five being a common rating by audience respondents.
“We knew that Stooged Theatre was going to be well-received. Director Carl Young always brings something new and exciting to his interpretations of Shakespeare and his Merchant of Venice was truly worthy of the world stage.
“The Stooged Theatre ensemble made many new fans during their stint in Gloucester: we laughed, we cried, we loved them.”
