The Rec Centre was a hive of activity with great family environment and an enthusiastic crowd.
Thanks again to everyone involved in making this event possible.
Without the support of volunteers and their commitment every week the competition would not offer as much enjoyment and cooperation to ensure that Gloucester Basketball Association continues to grow.
The first game of the day was the division two final between Black and Maroon.
The tension was high as teams battled to a close finish.
Both teams played with fantastic effort, leaving spectators guessing as to which team would be in front by the final siren.
When the clock wound down it was Maroon in front 16 to 13.
Black: Justin Battams, Kelly Groves, Parker Higgins, Rohann Everett, Emma Ashton and Anita Jackson.
Maroon: Ryan Beggs, Sam Ashton, Issac Earl-Broadley, Brady Rose, Tiarne Harvey and Melia Mulder.
The battle was on between Green and Maroon in division one.
Maroon showed their tenacity early to hold a strong lead at halftime.
It was just the motivation Green needed to enable them to dig deep and lift to Maroon’s level.
In the last 30 seconds of the game Green scored a basket to take the win 24-23.
Green: Jessica Relf, Jarred Chapman, Alistair Best, Connor Harvey and Billy Dulihanty.
Maroon: Lincoln Cox, Lleyton Richards, Tahnee Yates, Brody Dougherty and Cadel Beard.
Having witnessed two competitive grand final games from their junior peers, both men’s teams had plenty to play for while showing off their skills, teamwork and experience in digging deep to contest the ball on the court.
Maroon and Black, with the benefit of four quarters to consolidate the outcome, paced themselves for the first three quarters.
In the final 15 minutes Maroon proved too consistent with their goal shooting, which carried them to a convincing win 45 to 35.
Maroon: Kent Barker, Ben Reynolds, Scott Chester, Brody Dougherty, Rhys Cox and Kieran Schneider.
Black: Andy Parker, Joel Keen, Brett Genoli, Young Rustandi, Fletcher Best and Ray Pittman.
