The win topped off a massive day of football in support of the Curtis Landers Appeal, with the players wearing blue and white jerseys donated by the Canterbury Bulldogs in support of the cause.
The table -topping Roos started the better of the two sides, but the Magpies swooped home to take the win.
Kyle Predebon had a great game for the Magpies, scoring three tries and making his presence felt in defence.
At halftime the Roos held a slender two-point 18-16 lead over the Magpies.
But inspired by the former junior Magpie the home team rose for Curt, conceding just two tries to Karuah in the second term.
Hayden Tull cemented the win with a field goal late in the game while Scott Wratten had a super game kicking eight goals for the Magpies.
Mick Shultz and Craig Murray also joined the list of try scorers.
The win takes the Magpies to fourth on the Newcastle Rugby League D grade ladder.
