Hardworking members of the community were rewarded during an official presentation of the Keep NSW Beautiful’s 2016 Blue Star Sustainability Awards achieved during a recent award ceremony on November 5 in Orange.
The awards, formally known as the Tidy Town Awards, are given to people or groups, who are going good work for their communities.
The awards were:
- Winner for Environmental Achievement Award for Penny Drake-Brockman
- Highly Commended for Waste Less Recycle More for the Majestic Family Store Opportunity Shop
- Highly Commended for Sustainable Systems Award for Gloucester’s Sustainable Futures Convention held in October last year
Tidy Towns is a council committee that looks for community groups who are working hard to benefit the Gloucester community.
They approach the groups and offer to help them submit an application for the awards and cover the cost of the submission.
Gloucester won its first award in 1981 and again in 2014, which was then known as Tidy Towns.
The awards are State government initiative to recognise people and groups for these achievements.
