At around 11am a tagged grey nurse shark and bull shark were sighted by helicopter off Forster Main Beach, according to Dorsal Reports.
The beach was closed by lifeguards and later re-opened.
Rubber duckies were used to patrol the area, as well as the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) helicopter.
At 6.47am the same morning DPI Fisheries receiver detected a tagged bull shark off Forster Main Beach.
Forster’s Pebbly Beach also was closed after the DPI helicopter spotted a grey nurse shark at 10.45am.
The DPI helicopter also spotted a 1.5-2m unidentified shark at Lindeman Cove near Charlotte Bay on Sunday morning, April 16.
Last Thursday just before 5pm police closed the Tuncurry rock pool for 24 hours after two metre shark was seen swimming inside the netted area.
The unknown species was sighted and photographed about 10 metres from shore.
It is not known at this time how the shark got into the popular swimming area.
A rare whaler shark was filmed by an excited fisherman about 50km off Port Stephens on Saturday, April 15.
Earlier in the day a 1.7m whaler shark – possibly the same animal – was sighted off Treachery Point and Big Gibber Headland, in the Great Lakes by aerial surveillance.
