It was exciting news the Minister for Roads, Melinda Pavey and Member for Upper Hunter, Michael Johnsen announced the NSW State Government will provide funding for the Bucketts Way Route Access Strategy. This is a prime example of what can be achieved with consistent effort when community, industry and government work together; one we can learn from.

AGL and GRL’s funding of a position, to work with groups and councils to develop and finalise the strategy was a great assistance– without this resource we would not have received the funding. The efforts of the engineering staff from former Gloucester and Great Lakes Councils and now MidCoast and Port Stephens Councils, also deserve praise for the effort and resources they provided.
Congratulations to Advance Gloucester, who initiated and carried out significant representations to MP’s for this project, as well as seeking resourcing for the AGL Independent Legacy Fund. The Gloucester Business Chamber should be acknowledged as a tower of strength in the representation process for implementation and funding of the strategy. The other interesting factor was local businesses who assisted greatly in the process by encouraging their State and National associations to join the representations to MP’s. All together a fantastic effort by many people to achieve a much-needed outcome.
