“The day is about raising awareness of what you can do to support your environment – be it through your home, your work or in your community,” said Envirofair co-ordinator Jo Wallace.
MidCoast Council’s new E-Waste Recycling Trailer will be onsite, which Jo said will be a great opportunity to get up close and personal with your local recycling truck.
“Instead of throwing your household E-Waste away – such as smoke detectors, phones, cameras, computers, monitors, light bulbs, household batteries and printer cartridges - bring them along on the day so they can be sorted for recycling, re-using, redirecting and reducing landfill,” she said.
Other attractions include:
- Meet community groups who are working hard to improve the environment.
- Down to earth waste management with a working worm farm on site. Learn how having a worm farm reduces your red bin waste.
- Great new music and food to satisfy the senses and creative children’s activities.
Visitors to the Envirofair can also see how to be creative with waste items to construct panels that will go towards helping to build the maze in the future.
The project asks members of the community to re-use materials rather than throw them in the bins and to think more deeply about the waste that they generate.
Interested people will be able to obtain more information and a registration form at the Envirofair.
