Dungog Shire Council has received a grant for $9,800 under the 2016-17 Community Heritage and Icons Grants program for a project titled ‘Promoting Barrington Tops - increasing the visibility of a World Heritage area’.

​“The aim of the project is to produce a short video which showcases the international heritage aspects of Barrington Tops and can be uploaded across various social media channels” said Ivan Skaines, Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator.

The video will also showcase the Barrington Tops National Park including the Corker and Rocky Crossing Trails, Blue Gum Loop in the Upper Williams, and Jerusalem Creek not far from Chichester Dam.

It aims to show local residents what is in their own backyard, and attract more visitors to the area.

Links to the video will also be included on various websites including the recently re-developed Visit Dungog website, the Dungog District Chamber of Commerce website, and other sites.

“The video will touch on how our towns and villages act as the southern gateway to the Barrington Tops and the world heritage area, and how very accessible these assets are to the large population living within a three hours drive,” said Mr Skaines.

“We appreciate the support provided by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, and in particular Anthony Signor, Area Manager, Barrington Tops National Park, as the owner of this asset.”
