Escape to Everywhere is part of this year’s Book Week celebrations from August 19-26 at MidCoast Libraries

Local children are invited into MidCoast Libraries to Escape to Everywhere as part of this year’s Book Week celebrations from August 19-26.

Each year across Australia, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children’s Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature, and what better place to explore the world of books than at your local library.

This year's theme is Escape to Everywhere, and preschool aged children will be able to do just that, as the MidCoast Libraries team will be running storytime readings from this year's short-listed picture book selections, followed by songs and craft.

“We’ll be celebrating a number of talented Australian children’s authors and illustrators, along with a range of fun activities for children to enjoy across our libraries. Parents are encouraged to bring their children, who are welcome to dress up as their favourite character,” library events officer, Danielle Donnelly said.

“Book Week not only celebrates talented Australian authors and illustrators, but it’s also an opportunity to develop children’s imaginations through amazing children’s books, just like we cherish and remember from our childhoods.”

Activities will take place in seven library locations across the region, beginning on August  21 in Wingham, Gloucester and Tea Gardens libraries and continuing throughout the week at Forster, Taree, Harrington and Hallidays Point libraries.

Forster library, will also have a special visit from the popular U3A puppeteers.
