This results in on the back of the two taking top rankings in the recent PBM Hardrock six-hour mountain bike race in Taree.
Hunter Mountain Bike Association hosted the HMBA XC Dungog three hour on Sunday, August 27 attracting 56 riders on the Dungog Common.
The race was held over a 10.2 kilometre course that included plenty of variety, from the rocky steps of “Mother of Goat” to the fast and twisty “Snake Trail”, and the fun of “Al’s Downer”.
Former Gloucester resident and world champion 24-hour endurance mountain bike ride, Jason competed in the Solo A Grade Men section, where he completed seven laps in 3:16:09.
His nearest competitor, Liam McGuire completed the same amount of laps in 3:24:30.
This is all part of Jason’s training.
“I will be looking for a few longer races in preparation for the 24 hour national champs held in October in Canberra,” he said.
Accoring to the event coordinator, Steven Pryor, “Jason not only won the race, but had warmed up by riding his mountain bike from his home in Newcastle to Dungog in the morning before the race.”
Gloucester resident, James competed in the Solo B Grade Men section, completing six laps in 3:12:45.
His nearest competitor, Jacob Clarke was on his heels, finishing same amount of laps in 3:14:16.
James will be heading out on a 160 kilometre social ride on Saturday, September 2.
“It’s all fun and good training for the upcoming Mountain Man competition,” he said.
