So it’s only fitting that a sign highlighting, the Mid North Coast region and Gloucester town, would be placed there.

The Lions Club of Gloucester decided to gift the community four signs as part of the celebration of the Lions Club 100^th year of international service and the Gloucester club’s 48 years of service in town.

Each sign has a map covering from Nelson Bay to Port Macquarie, from the ocean across to Barrington Tops. The Bucketts Way is one of the main roads highlighted on the map, along with places to camp and other facilities in the region.

There is also an inset street directory map of the town of Gloucester.

Along with the large sign on the Mograni Lookout at the eastern entrance of Gloucester on The Bucketts Way, there is one the same size across from the Gloucester Showground entrance on the Thunderbolts Way on the northern side of Gloucester and another across from the Gloucester Country Club at the southern entrance on The Bucketts Way.

The final sign, is a little smaller and is placed on the outside of the Visitor Information Centre on Denison Street in town.

Lions Club of Gloucester president, Denise Bruce said the signs are for the tourists, so they can see what they can do around the region.

Ms Bruce said the signs have been made possible thanks to the hard work of Wendy Hughes, who coordinated things with MidCoast Council and the club also thanks council for the support in getting the project completed. 

Lions Club of Gloucester paid for the signs to be made up and council agreed to install and maintain them.

Last year, the Lions Club of Gloucester built a free public barbecue at Gloucester Lions Park, holding the official opening on May 28, 2016
