Don’t open the email attachment

Gloucester Police are warning the community about a recent email scam that indicates it’s from the police.

Police said the email appears to be an infringement notice but it’s not.

The email either has an attached or a link that requires the person to access in order to get the information of the fine.

According to police, once this is opened, things go a little haywire.

The recommendation from police is to delete the email.

If police are going to email an infringement notice they are required to speak to the person first, therefore they would not send an unsolicited email.

Police are encouraging the community to be vigilant when opening emails from people they do not know.

Scams can be delivered in a variety of ways, such as the recent letter scam that was reported to police.
