Gloucester High School students recently travelled to Scone for the annual Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza.

The 17 GHS students joined 838 students from 82 schools across the state to participate in the cattle showing event, gaining skills in cattle assessment, cattle handling and showing of animals. There were over 400 head of cattle entered for this three day event.
For months students have been preparing their animals to be in prime condition for the event and did a fantastic job.
The Angus Limousin cross steer in the lightweight section, led by Andrew Hughes, was placed first in his class on the hoof and third in the carcass competition. This was one of two steers purchased from Alan and Carole Luscombe of Waukivory.
Jordyn Snape entered two steers of her own, one gaining a fourth place in the heavyweight section on the hoof and came third on the hook. A Devon Charolais cross steer in the heavyweight section gained a fourth place in the carcass section. This steer was donated to the school by Mark and Jenny Coombes of Mograni Rural.
Jordyn Snape placed first in her paraders class and was awarded Champion Parader overall. Jordyn also came second in the 17/18 years Judging Competition.
Maddy Bignell placed fourth in the School Steer Challenge Paradersand Miranda Riley was placed third in her Paraders class. Cameron Dunlop was in the top nine for his age Judging Competition, narrowly missing out on a ribbon. Congratulations to all the students.
