One of the ways in which they do this is hosting the annual Craftathon, being held this year over the weekend of November 18-19.
The event has been held for the past two years at Club Taree, and as feedback from patrons has been how much they prefer the venue, the club will once again be the setting where keen crafters will converge.
All sites are already fully booked and there will be a huge variety of handicrafts to see. On both days there will be ongoing demonstrations, workshops, and plenty of goods and crafting supplies on display and for sale.
Supplies for patchwork, paper crafts, card making, stamping, beading, porcelain dolls and clothes, candles, gingerbread, chocolate making and much more will be available.
It might also be the ideal time to pick up a Christmas gift or two, because if you are looking for a unique one-of-a-kind gift, there will be plenty to choose from.
Nancye Booth from the Central Coast will be highlighting her ‘Elegant Lady Brooches’ at her stall. An avid crafter who works with many different crafts, Nancy first came up with the idea for her brooches about 20 years ago when she and her husband belonged to the Gosford Musical Society and were looking through costume books.
The Elegant Lady Brooches are designed with a vintage look in the 1920s and 1930s style. Each brooch is hand-painted and completed with a clear glaze finish with up to six coats. They have the appearance of being made of ceramic, yet they are lightweight and durable to wear.
Just Patchwork of Tuncurry have donated a major package for the raffle prizes, with first price being a Janome DC2200 sewing machine valued at $799, and second prize a Janome 8002DX overlocker valued at $599. A Super Lucky Door Prize will be drawn on both days.
The 2017 Craftathon is open on Saturday November 18 from 10am to 4pm and Sunday November 19 from 10am to 3pm. Entry is $5 for adults with entry for children under 16 free if they are accompanied by an adult.
