Gloucester High School nominated Kyra Edstein, Maddy Blanch and Tahnee Yates to take part in the event which took place at the Gloucester Soldiers Club on October 18.
The overall winner was Kyra.
Kyra will progress to the regional finals in Clarence Town on March 10, 2018. As the club is able to send two representatives, Maddy has also been chosen to take part in the regional event. All three will be attending the Lions Youth Camp in Morisset in April next year.
Students aged between 15 and 19 years can enter the program and the nominees were chosen by GHS due to their past outstanding ability in public speaking.
The program, now in its 50th year, provides youth with the opportunity to experience an interview situation and a chance to practice their public speaking skills. It’s designed to encourage interest in leadership and the qualities required to take an active and constructive role in the community.
