“The most number of entries we've had for a meeting here is 110,’’ president Darren Chick said earlier this week.
“We have 85 already and we’ll get more on the day, so we’re confident we’ll break the record.’’
There’ll be more than 100 karts in action on the day in 12 classes. Riders will range in age from seven to 60.
The club is also on track to have the maximum 28 entries for one class – the tag 125 restricted light.
There’ll be current State champions chasing honours with drivers expected from Lithgow, Sydney, Newcastle, Gunnedah, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour as well as the host club.
Mr Chick said the meeting is the last conducted in NSW and this helps boost its popularity, along with the fact that racing is at night. He added that due to a number of factors, including costs, clubs throughout the State have had to cancel meetings this year due to a lack of entries.
“So this is a good change,’’ he said.
Racing will start tomorrow afternoon with the finals of all classes from around 7pm. This will include the Hamnett memorial, which this year will be a top five shoot out in junior and senior classes.
This is the 10th Hamnett memorial meeting the club has conducted. Dave Hamnett was a keen competitor with the kart club.
