MidCoast Council today announced the appointment with no specific start date in 2018 as council works to navigate the exit of Mr Handford to a private sector position.
A spokesperson for MidCoast Council advised that “they did not know details” of the private sector position that Mr Handford had accepted.
Mr Embry heads the corporate and business systems division of MidCoast Council.
He was previously employed for 12 years at Great Lakes Council in the role of director of corporate and community services.
This morning MidCoast Council mayor David West described the resignation decision as “disappointing” and congratulated Mr Handford on his work and achievements since the merger in May 2016.
“This is disappointing news for MidCoast,” Cr West said.
“As councillors we have been building on the great work undertaken by Glenn and the staff since May 2016.
“Glenn has positioned the council for success and now our job is to continue to build on this work.
“Glenn will be remembered for his passion and commitment to the success of MidCoast Council.”
