No details of the private sector position or the specific exit date have been made available, however it is understood that Mr Handford will leave the role in the new year.
In a statement to staff Mr Handford commented, “we have faced a number of significant challenges since the merger and I believe our combined efforts have set MidCoast Council up for success. I have consistently thanked staff for their efforts as the success we have achieved would not have been possible without working together.”
“As always, the new year will bring its share of challenges. There are still ongoing integration projects, a backlog of roadworks, and the possibility of bringing all indoor staff under one roof. However, our capacity to meet these challenges head-on has been proven by everything we have accomplished in 2017.”
In accepting the resignation mayor David West congratulated Glenn on the work and achievements since the merger in May 2016
“This is disappointing news for MidCoast. As councillors we have been building on the great work undertaken by Glenn and the staff since May 2016. Glenn has positioned the council for success and now our job is to continue to build on this work.”
“Glenn will be remembered for his passion and commitment to the success of MidCoast Council.”
