As the sun sets on what’s been a long, hot, Summer Reading Club season, the MidCoast Libraries team is sending a huge shout out to club members to get their reading logs in, in order to receive an invitation to the end-of-season party, and to go into the draw to win some great prizes.
The deadline for returning reading logs is Saturday, January 20, and RSVP’s for the party are required by Monday, January 22.
MidCoast Libraries’ Community Outreach Librarian, Debbie Horgan has been thrilled with this year’s response.
“Summer Reading Club launched on December 1, and we’ve had terrific take-up by young readers from across the entire region,” she said.
“The program is all about getting kids reading books over the summer holidays, so our end-of-season party and prize draws are a great way to celebrate the achievements of so many great young bookworms who have participated this year.”
The Summer Reading Club is a novel and engaging way to promote reading and literacy, providing a positive focus on reading through the long summer holidays by making it fun.
This year, a bonus incentive to participate with the end-of-season party and prize draws has been made possible through program sponsor, Mission Australia, as part of the Australian Government’s Communities for Children initiative.
Important dates for club members to take note of include:
- Drop your reading log into your local MidCoast library before close on Saturday, January 20
- RSVP for the Pizza and Movie Party by Monday, January 22 – RSVP details provided on your invitation
- End-of-season party at Manning Entertainment Centre, noon – 3.30pm on Wednesday, January 24
A range of great prizes are on offer, and will be drawn at the party.
“It’s a big thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s Summer Reading Club, and we’ll look forward to welcoming you all back next year,” Debbie added.
