Magpies get ready for 2018

Gloucester Magpies are looking forward to another successful season in the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League competition.

A new committee headed by president Ken White has appointed Andrew Middlebrook to take up the reins as coach once again in 2018.

Long serving treasurer Kate Wratten has handed the baton over to Matthew Higgins after over a decade of loyal service and hard work alongside husband Grant. The committee wishes them all the very best.

The secretarial duties will be shared by Donna and Rodney Summerville as this requires a huge amount of communication and liaison with the governing body in Newcastle.

Mark Blanch has taken on the duties of delegate and his knowledge of Newcastle Rugby league will be a great asset.

Tayla-Kay Williams has accepted the role as publicity officer: a new position on the Magpie committee.

The 2018 pre-season will kick off on Saturday March 17 with four rounds and two weekends of finals. Sides will be graded during this period, and the competition draw of 14 rounds will be finalised. The competition-proper will start on May 5.

The Magpies have been advised that Brad Fittler and Josh Perry will be in Gloucester to hold a coaching clinic for junior players and raise funds for Hogs 4 Homeless.

Once again GRL would like to thank their many sponsors for the generous support they give, as we strive to keep the greatest game alive in Gloucester.

Further information and details of the coaching clinic will be published as soon as firm times and dates are confirmed.
