Manning Hospital is now home to eight new medical graduates as part of a record intake of intern doctors across NSW.

The interns will work across multiple departments, such as outpatients, emergency and obstetrics on a two year contract.
NSW is the only State where two year terms are available.
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead was on hand to welcome the students and said he hoped some of the students will decide to build their careers in regional NSW.
“There’s a shortage of doctors right across NSW so that would be great to see some of these guys decide to stay on in regional NSW,” Mr Bromhead said.
He is also pleased that a record 40 Aboriginal interns are a part of the intake across the State.
Originally from Los Angeles in the USA, intern Dr Nicholas Kunzeir moved to Sydney to train to become a doctor.
He was recruited through the NSW Rural Preferential Recruitment pathway where he specifically applied for for a position at Manning Hospital.

He was drawn to the beach lifestyle of the area and the chance to work in a regional setting.
“I came out with my partner with the idea it could be somewhere to stay.
“I’m hoping to split my time between the hospital and the water.
“I think that regional NSW has a lot of opportunity,” Dr Kunzeir said.
Dr Kunzeir added that he has settled in well to the hospital.
“This is my first week on, just going through orientation now and just getting settled here,” Dr Kunzeir said.
“What I’m really enjoying about being here is that you can just walk down to the pathology laboratory to drop the forms off and everyone has a name, everyone’s got a face and its got a real community vibe to it which coming from a smaller town I appreciate.”
