Lower North Coast Surf Live Saving branch president Brian Wilcox showcases the BeachSafe app

Lower North Coast Surf Live Saving branch president Brian Wilcox has encouraged all beachgoers this summer to use the Beachsafe app.

The app features up-to-date information about every Australian beach, including patrol status, facilities, hazards, weather, swell and tide.

It also provides images of what each beach looks like, information about the beach and its history.

Mr Wilcox said the app is an asset to not only visitors who might not be familiar with a particular beach but also for regulars.

“It’s really helpful when you’re going to the beach so you know which location to go to and what the conditions are like,” Mr Wilcox said.

“This app is a fantastic device for anyone who is holidaying in our area, whose not familiar with our beaches but they can find the right beaches to swim at so that they are swimming between the flags exactly where we need them to be to keep them safe.”

The app is run through Surf Live Saving Australia.
