Landholders, farmers and those involved in agriculture are invited to attend an upcoming workshop in Gloucester or Taree to contribute to a NSW Government project to map important agricultural land and assist in land use planning.

The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) is partnering with MidCoast Council to identify and provide more relevant mapping of important agricultural land across the MidCoast region.
The State-wide project will also assist local and regional planning to help foster growth and reduce land use conflict.
Council's Senior Strategic Planner, Alexandra MacVean says these workshops, undertaken with the NSW DPI, will also contribute to the ROLUS strategy.
The workshops will focus on mapping land important for agricultural industries and identifying why agricultural industries locate in specific areas in our region.
Alexandra MacVean says "MidCoast Council has commenced work on developing the Rural Opportunity and Land Use Strategy (ROLUS), which aims to provide clear and informed land use planning recommendations.
"These outcomes will then form the framework for the new consolidated MidCoast Council local environmental plan and development control plan.
"We would encourage anyone who works in agriculture in our region to be part of these workshops" says Roger Busby, "your local knowledge of agricultural industries is invaluable to contributing to this project."

Workshops will be held at the Council's Taree office, 2 Pulteney Street on Monday, February 12 from 1pm - 4.30pm; and at the Gloucester office, 89 King Street on Tuesday, February 13 from 9am - 12.30pm.
