Taree Arts Council auditions for Les Misérables

“I’m wanting to attract people from near and far who may not have been in a musical before,” she said.

Auditions are being held in March and Taree Arts Council has released an information pack on its website, which includes audition requirements as well as rehearsal details and show dates.

Lead roles, children’s roles and ensemble are all available 

“The show calls for a number of men, particularly from ages 16-40 to play the group of students who lead the Paris rebellion,” said Gayle.

“The auditions for these students, chorus members and supporting smaller roles will be held as a group so you will not be asked to prepare a solo song.”

She said the audition process is fun, non-threatening and friendly so there is no need for nerves or embarrassment.

​”If you have had more experience and would like a bit more of a challenge, there are many marvellous roles you can audition for.”

These include Jean Valjean, Inspector Javert, Marius, Enjolras, Fantine, Eponine, Cosette, Thénardier, Madame Thénardier and The Bishop of Digne. The Taree Arts Council website has all the requirements for people wishing to audition for these roles.

The prized children’s roles of Gavroche and Little Cosette will be auditioned at a separate time. The role of young Eponine will be chosen from the Little Cosette auditions.

Auditions will be held at the Taree Arts Council Shed in Flametree Close, Taree, with adult leading roles on Sunday March 4, children on Saturday March 10 and ensemble on March 11.

Les Misérables, which has earned the title as the world’s best loved musical, will be staged at the Manning Entertainment Centre from Friday November 2 to Sunday November 18.
