The organising committee has included 13 new classes in a bid to make the program more attractive and encourage more exhibitors to take part.
Classes for the strong mare and gelding events will be split according to height, and separate maiden classes for horses that have not previously won a first ribbon have been introduced.
New classes have been introduced for a Stock Horse time trial where competitors undertake a set obstacle course run against the clock.
Another innovative event will be the “Cowless Campdraft” which is a timed event run over the normal campdraft pattern including a cut-out and with bending obstacles between the pegs and the gate which is the finishing line.
“I hope stock horse owners turn up with their horses and compete as an indication of support for what the show committee is doing to improve the program,” show ringmaster Howard Shultz said.
A full program of other led breed classes, ridden ponies and hacks, and dressage will take place on the second day of the Gloucester Show on Saturday, March 17.
