When the Manning Valley Concert Band last played at this venue it was a complete sell out, with some music lovers happy to stand for the entire concert after all of the seated tickets were sold.

Entitled “Strike Up the Band”, this concert will feature music from the big band era including Sinatra, Gershwin and the ever popular Glenn Miller. 

During the concert the band will feature Leroy Anderson’s “Sandpaper Ballet”, the ever timeless “76 Trombones” and the music director’s own arrangement of the “Clarinet Polka”.

The band has increased in numbers since our performance, with several new members joining this year.

“New players are always welcome”, says music director Roger Griffiths (a former band master of the Australian Army Band, Newcastle).

This year we will continue to present a more diverse and exciting repertoire, specifically arranged for concert bands. Several more concerts will be presented throughout the year.

There will be something for everyone in this concert, and will feature vocal performances by some very special guests, and some of the youngest members of the band.

Manning Valley Concert Band is committed to the development of young instrumentalists in the local area. 

The Manning Valley Youth Concert Band was formed to enable young players to experience performing with a band, and to develop their individual instrumental skills.

Several members of the youth band are members of the Hunter Wind Ensemble. Three of these members have recently returned from a successful tour of Spain and Portugal with the Hunter Wind Ensemble.
