She’s been a professional artist for the past 25 years. Originally from Canada, her career started Sydney before relocating to Gloucester in 2007.
Preferring oils as a medium for portraiture, she now paints landscapes in acrylics due to the fast dying quality. When in her studio she loves the luminosity of watercolour and the pure pigment of pastel.
Her latest exhibit captures the interesting scenes she encountered after travelling to Europe and the United Kingdom. However, with the heat of the summer this year she couldn’t help painting the lovely rivers surrounding Gloucester and her love of animals shows in the many dog and bird sketches featured in the exhibition.
Jean studied with many well known artists in Sydney and now enjoys artist friends visiting the area to paint the lovely scenes here. She has had many solo and group exhibitions in Australia and Canada.
Jean’s work will be showing at the Gloucester Gallery from March 28 until April 22, with the gallery open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday 10am to 1pm
Everyone is welcome to join her for opening night on Wednesday, March 28 from 6pm.
