Gloucester Environment Group had a few options for our monthly walk on February 17 and after meeting at the fire shed at Upper Bowman, 10 people set off to walk up Mud Hut Road, while three others drove to the picnic area at one of the river crossings to just spend a relaxing time chatting and bird-watching.

After walking three kilometres, two of the group decided to stop off at the picnic spot where they joined the bird-watchers and enjoyed morning tea. And although the river was very low, there was a nice pool nearby for a dip.
So that left eight energetic members to hike the full distance of 10 kms to Scone Road, where a car had been left to ferry everyone back.
It was a moderate grade, pleasant walk and once over the hill, lovely views opened up, across to Copeland Tops.
Despite being a through road, only two vehicles passed by and with lots of shade on the way it was at least five degrees cooler than in town. Lunch and a refreshing swim ended a good day out.
The next activity on Saturday, March 17 will be a trip to Port Macquarie where we’ll walk the Coastal Path (easy grade) from Lighthouse Beach to the town. And after lunch and a swim, a visit to the Koala Hospital is planned. Meet at the Billabong Park skatebowl at 7:45am for an 8am departure.
