Thanks to the Department of Veteran Affairs Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program, Gloucester RSL sub branch was able to purchase four new poles; three for Gloucester Memorial Park and one for the Gloucester Cemetery.
The poles have served the sub branch for many years, being used at Anzac Day ceremonies. To update the tired and out of date flagpoles at the Gloucester Memorial Park, the sub branch decided to purchase three flagpoles similar to the one installed at the Gloucester Cemetery.
MidCoast Council came on board for the project and the sub branch is most grateful for the expertise and knowledge provided in the replacement of all four flagpoles. Council’s professional artisans extended the base on which the three flagpoles sit at the park so the flag raising during ceremonies can be carried out safely, free of dust and mud.
