The Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League (NHRL) have initiated a new format, dividing the competition into north and south divisions to accommodate a large number of teams, with Gloucester part of north.
The Magpies have completed a successful pre-season, being undefeated in three games, fielding a team with a blend of youth and some very experienced players.
Captain/coach Andrew Middlebrook will lead his troops from the sideline for a few more weeks after sustaining an injury in the first game. He has spent the off season recruiting quality players that will add to the depth of talent in the Magpie line-up.
The first competition game is at home (Bert Gallagher Oval) on Saturday, April 28 against Hinton from 2:30pm. Come and support the new look Magpies in the quest to reach the finals this season.
