The seminar, hosted by Midcoast Council in cooperation with the NSW Government, Office of Regional Development, Gloucester Business Chamber and Advance Gloucester, was attended by 15 business owners.
“Those attending covered a broad cross-section of businesses in our local area, so as well as tapping into the information presented by our speakers, the seminar proved to be a successful networking opportunity,” council’s Economic Development coordinator Robyn Brennan said.
The objective of the seminar was to promote business opportunity awareness to both current business people, and those who may be considering setting up a business in the Gloucester region.
Speakers included Sanket Purohit from Jobs for NSW, Suzette Gaff from the NSW Government Office of Regional Development, Alan Steber, Steber International (Taree), Brian Beesley of Profitable Promotions, John Sutton from Drifter Campers, and MidCoast Council’s growth and economic development manager Deb Tuckerman.
“The session was well-received, delivered in an informal environment, with presenters who spoke informatively of their own business experiences and provided valuable advice on various business assistance programs that are available, particularly those relevant to regional communities,” Ms Brennan said.
“Economic development is a key focus for the entire MidCoast region, and initiatives such as the Gloucester seminar provide support to local businesses who may otherwise miss out on these types of opportunities.”
