Taree businessman Adam Sharpe was a Group Study Exchange (GSE) team member to the USA in 2001.
“You will be shown an intimate perspective not only on your career but also the cultural and community focus of another country through the lens of local community members - a unique trip,” Adam said. “And the opportunity to represent Australia and our local Rotary District overseas can be life changing.”
The Rotary Club of Taree on Manning is seeking expressions of interest from employees aged 25 to 40 who would be interested in a vocational exchange opportunity to Denmark.
The Rotary program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange for business and professional men and women aged 25 to 40 years, who are in the early years of their working lives.
The program provides for vocational study groups of four non-Rotarian team members and one Rotarian team leader to travel in the exchange Rotary district, in this case Denmark, for four weeks, staying in the homes of Rotarians in the Rotary district. Team members are selected from across our Rotary District 9650. The cost for airfares is $2500 – accommodation in Denmark is free.
This is an opportunity for young men and women to exchange ideas, experience cultural differences (people, languages, diversity and institutions) that can be shared with fellow workers/business on return to Australia - and implement valuable learnings from the experience that will encourage individual growth and business creativity.
The team will arrive in Denmark on August 30, 2018 to commence their vocational exchange on September 1. During the exchange the team will participate in Rotary meetings and give presentations on the team members vocations as well as Australia.
To be eligible for selection applicants must:
- have been employed for at least two years in any recognised business, trade or profession (fulltime preferred);
- work and live in Rotary District 9650 and be an Australian citizen.
The selection process
The initial team members selection will be Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17 in Armidale. A final selection of team members, if required, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24.
The selection process for each position will consist of a written paper and all interviews will be ‘face-to-face’. Online interviews cannot be considered.
Applications close on Friday, June 1.
