The two-hour workshops will be held in Taree, Forster and Gloucester in the coming weeks.
Statistics show that young people are over-represented when it comes to accidents and fatalities on our roads.
If you’ve taken on the responsibility of supervising a learner driver, you’re in the hot seat when it comes to ensuring they are confident and safety-conscious.
To prepare for this important role, these free workshops will reduce the stress, for supervisors and learners, and make every lesson more effective.
MidCoast Council will host three 'Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers' workshops across the region. Attendees will leave armed with information, practical advice, and a structured approach to building the competency of their learner, along with confidence in teaching safe driving habits.
The two-hour workshops will be held in Gloucester on Wednesday, May 23, Taree on Wednesday, May 30 and Forster on Wednesday, June 6.
“This is our first round of learner driver workshops this year, and those attending find it's much easier to navigate the requirements of the log book and provide effective lessons that gradually build on the skills of their learner driver," Chris Dimarco, MidCoast Council’s road safety officer said.
The course has been developed by Roads and Maritime Services. Workshop content covers topics such as laws that apply to L and P licence holders, completing the Learner Driver log book, and the benefits of well supervised on-road driving experience.
Workshops will commence at 6pm and light refreshments will be provided.
- Gloucester: SES HQ office, 23 Tate Street – Wednesday, May 23
- Taree: Council administration building, Pulteney Street – Wednesday, May 30
- Forster: Council administration building, Breese Parade - Wednesday, June 6.
Bookings are required and can be made online at www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety.
While the workshop is aimed at those teaching a learner driver, learners may benefit from some of the workshop content.
