As of 5.15am the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is calling for the possibility of snow above 1300 metres on Saturday, May 12, but the Barrington Tops Snow Chasers (BTSC) aren’t so sure.
In a Facebook post on the chasers group site, the administrators say they have been watching watching the weather and think the snow may not come.
“Unfortunately we will be lucky to have a bit of sleet maybe a few flakes over the weekend up at the tops,” BTSC admin posted.
“The cold pool of air is around but its lacking enough moisture to provide any good falls.
“Its still very early in the season so hopefully more systems come through with heavier stuff later on,” the post stated.
The BOM is predicting Saturday will be partly cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers in the south in the morning and afternoon, with a near zero chance of rain elsewhere.
Winds are due to be westerly at 30 to 45 kilometres per hours tending southwesterly 25 to 35 km/h in the late evening.
Overnight temperatures falling to between 4 and 9 with daytime temperatures reaching between 13 and 22.
If heading up to the tops to check out the snow, the chasers want to remind everyone to drive safety and to drive to the conditions, as it can get very busy during the snow season.
