Pennant: Another winning weekend, with Div. 3 having a narrow but important win against ‘Tuncurry Beach’ having wins on 2 rinks (7-62) putting the side in 2nd place overall and only 3 points behind Harrington. Div. 6 went down to ‘Bulahdelah’ losing on 2 rinks (72 V 52) but Kevin Burley’s team led most of the way. The side is still sitting 3rd overall.
Div. 7 had a bye. Men’s Bowls: Men’s Championship ‘Major’ Singles: saw some great heads and a nail biting finish with Mark Groves coming from behind to defeat Lu Urby (31-30) Col Hebblewhite against Phil Walls had a more convincing win but the score didn’t reflect the standard of the game (31-16) The Final should be a beauty on Sunday morning for this prestigious event.
Thursday: Winners were Bob Jones, Graham Turnbull and Jim Whitaker (18+12) and runners up being visitor L Kallis, Terry Higgins and Andrew Henderson (17+10)
Mixed Bowls: Saturday: Winners were Bonnie Faulkner, George Wisemantel and Pat Cox and the runners up were Judy Sheely, Harry Cox and Joan Ridgeway. Women’s Bowls: Wednesday:
There were no social bowls due to the Championship Triples. Ladies Championship Triples: The semi-finals saw Paula Standen, Jean Holstein and Bev Murray (skip) defeating Pat West, Judy Sheely, and Kerrie Green (skip) and Dianna Lockwood, Del Bucton and Pat Cox (skip) defeating Diane Pritchard, Lorraine Ratcliffe and Michelle Biggs (skip).
The final of the triples will be delayed until the 30th of May due to Bev Murray, Kerrie Green and Jan Jones playing in a state competition in Wollongong. It’s fantastic to see motivated ladies representing and promoting our club outside of the District.
All the best ladies and most importantly have a great time.
Ladies Championship Fours: commence on the 6th of June. Ladies Championship Singles and Consistency Singles closing soon, so get you names in.
Ladies calendar is starting to fill up with the championships but this week the 23rd of May will be social bowls only and a great opportunity for everyone to hone your skills.
