On Wednesday May 30, kindergarten to year four students visited the Gloucester District Historical Society Museum where they learned about they way things used to be in town.

They were shown through the museum by Pam Hebblewhite and her band of lovely volunteers who took time to show the students a little bit of the bygone days.

After a tour around the museum, students went to the Old Bowman School House on Oak Street, where they had the opportunity to experience a different type classroom. 

The students sat at the old school desks and looked through old school books. They did rubbings of old pennies and looked at a variety of old school house artefacts such as the cane, chalkboard, writing slates and ink wells. 

All of the students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot about local history to support their history lessons in class.
