Martin Bridge in Taree will be partially closed from this Sunday, June 10 as Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) crews begin a major maintenance program.
The closure will start at 7pm with both lanes opening to traffic at 5am. The partial closure of the bridge will continue for about three weeks until June 28, weather permitting. Full closure of the bridge with a detour is expected to begin on Sunday, July 1 for about five weeks.
The RMS crews will work Sunday to Thursday.
According to the RMS, the NSW government is funding the maintenance program in “preparation for future painting work on Martin Bridge.” During the eight week program workers will repair and replace steel beams, rivets and bolts on the bridge. The bridge is a steel truss bridge with an overall length of 475 metres with 15 spans, 11 of which are steel trusses.
