Peter Green, a stalwart of Gloucester Bowling Club and is being honoured with a special ‘Open’ bowls day Saturday June 23 with a luncheon at 1-1.30pm and bowls to commence 12.30-1pm (names at the club) so come along and join us whether you are a bowler or supporter/spectator.
Men’s bowls:
Men’s Championship Triples: Quarter finalists were played on Sunday with some good bowls played in windy and difficult conditions. Bob Jones, Gary Moss and Gordon Pritchard won in a nail biting ‘extra end’ over John West, Stacey Groves and Loui Urby (24-23) Wayne Groves, Philip Graves and Mark Groves defeated Alan Rose, Col Linton, and Jason Cassidy (22-11) Peter Jones, Jason Collins and Mark Tull defeated Michael Sheely, Andrew Henderson (sub) and Niko Duynhoven. Rob Heininger, Bob Charman and John Andrews defeated George Wisemantel, Vic Hebblewhite and Graham Turnbull (25 -14) in an earlier match.
Thursday: Winners were Robert Bowden and Clive Redman.
Mixed Bowls:
Saturday: winners were Terry Davies and Loui Urby (21+36 ) and Terry was kind enough to back up and umpire on Sunday.
Women’s Bowls:
Ladies Championship Fours: as per the Ladies Notice Board N Relf, B Germon, J Everett and J Ridgeway go through to the Quarter Final with a forfeit over P Standen, P Maurer, T Collins and J Linton. C Atkins, L Ratcliffe, P West and Kerry Green defeated J Sheely, J Holstein, C West and B Murray. The other Q/F are R Redman, D Groves, V Pritchard and M Andrews will play D Lockwood, D Pritchard, D Buckton and P Cox. Apologies ladies for not including christian names although I know many of you by name I feel it would be unfair the print only some of you.
