Peter Green a stalwart of Gloucester Bowling Club passed away last Sunday. He was being honoured with the ’dedication’ of the green but out of respect his dedication day has been postponed.
He will be honoured with a ‘guard of honour’ at his funeral on Monday June 25 at St Pauls Church.
Club Championship Semi’s (results below): we witnessed a wonderful week of bowls with bowlers testing their metal and some games went down to the wire.
Finals this coming week: The Ladies Fours and the Men’s Triples in the Club Championships. (Wednesday and Sunday respectively)
Men’s Bowls: Men’s Championship Triples: Some great bowls played on both rinks, After 20 ends of 25 there was only a margin of 5 shots on both rinks. Semi between Bob Jones, Gary Moss and Gordon Pritchard v‘s Wayne Groves, Philip Groves and Mark Groves saw tem Groves win 21-20. Peter Jones, Jason Collins and Mark Tull won over Rob Heininger, Bob Charman and John Andrews 21-17. Setting up a good Final, which will be played next Sunday morning.
Thursday: Winners were P Sheridan, Bob Jones and Terry Davies. Mixed Bowls: Saturday: winners were Nev (Joe) Holstein, Phil Wallis and Louis Urby (22+27) Women’s Bowls: Wednesday: (Results not known at time of publication, likely due to Championships)
Ladies Championship Fours: as per the Ladies Notice Board J Linton. C Atkins, L Ratcliffe, P West and Kerry Green had a win over N Relf, B Germon, J Everett and J Ridgeway. In the other game D Lockwood, D Pritchard, D Buckton and P Cox had a win over R Redman, D Groves, V Pritchard and M Andrews. Teams Cox and Green will face off on Wednesday morning. (Apologies ladies for not including christian names although I know many of you by name I feel it would be unfair the print only some of you)
