It’s an invitation for all the former players of the Gloucester Magpies.
Gloucester Rugby League Football Club are hosting an ‘Old Boys Day’ at the Bert Gallagher Oval, Gloucester on Saturday July 14.
The day will kick off with a bit of socialising and reminiscing over drinks at the Avon Valley Inn from 12:30pm.
There will be a raffle for $2,000 worth of travel vouchers which is due to be drawn on the Magpies presentation night.
Monies raised will go to the Gloucester Magpies.
There will be some organised activities and highlights of the good old days of the Gloucester Magpies in the eighties.
After the pre-game drinks, everyone is invited to walk down the oval to watch the current Magpies take on Paterson River as part of the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League (NHRL) competition.
In the NHRL division, Gloucester and Paterson are currently at the top of the ladder with 15 points each heading into round 10.
The teams last faced each other in round three on Saturday May 19 at the Paterson sports ground finishing up in a 20 all draw.
The Old Boys Day isn’t just a chance for all the previous players and supporters to have a catch up, but also an opportunity to watch a top of the leader board clash on Gloucester’s home turf.
During half time, there will be a goal kicking challenge for all the past players willing to lace up the old boots.
The goal kicking shoot out is a chance for all the previous goal kickers to compete for a $50 prize.
After the game, everyone is invited back to the pub where a black and white old boys jersey will be auctioned off.
Men of League delegates will be available on the day for anyone interested in signing up.
