Cattle sale report from Gloucester saleyards

The regular fortnightly sale yarding just on 350 head of locally bred cattle which was an increase of numbers on the last sale on June 28.
The yarding comprised mainly young cattle with very few older cattle of offer.
Older steers were firm with steer weaners firm to slightly cheaper for the better end, however, younger steer weaners were firm.
Heifers were firm to slightly dearer and joined cows with a limited number on offer were dearer.
Older steers two and a half years topped at $1,170 A/c The Hughes family, Craven to Geoff Trappell, Stroud.
Steer weaners topped at $890 A/c Mark Jones, Booral for a pen of Angus cross to First National, Gloucester and a pen of Angus A/c WM and CA Dwyer, Stroud to John Bowen, Stroud.
Most steer weaners sold between $750 - $850 for the heavier types with their younger brothers selling between $570 - $650.
Yearling heifers topped at $790 A/c A and P Wenham, Stratford.
Heifer weaners topped at $590 on two occasions A/c Ian Derrin, Wallanbah via Gloucester and Ali Mohamed, Booral to Ken Miller, Dungog.
Joined cows topped at $1,150 for a pen of 11 Angus A/c Ali Mohamed, Booral.
Buyers came from Taree, Dungog, Maitland and surrounding districts.
