Did you know?
The Gloucester Chill Out Festival was established in 2008 as a result of local businesses coming together to develop a fun event that would celebrate the vibrant community of Gloucester, showcase our region and attract visitors to our area.
The Festival is now an important event on the calendar in the Gloucester area, particularly from a tourism perspective, attracting thousands of people every year.
The event has become Gloucester Business Chamber’s key activity working to boost the local economy.
The Gloucester Chill Out Festival provides an affordable, fun day out for families and people of all ages and helps to build our community spirit.
The main street is closed for around six hours and offers market stalls, live entertainment, amusement rides, exhibitions, competitions, a show n shine as well as local traders offering various goods for sale.
Historically, over 4,000 people attend the Chill Out Festival each year with the aim of the committee this year being to increase the numbers.
Other fun features of the event include a novelty dog show which raises funds for the Guide Dog Association.
There’s the Head Warmer Challenge, where you can create your own crazy head warmer or beanie and help raise funds for two local cancer support groups.
Each year a wood chop is held in the main street, attracting entrants from all over the state, and the show ‘n’ shine is getting bigger and bigger every year.
Additionally, you can sample some of the regions most delicious food and the finest wine.
An added attraction of the event is the Tin Hare rides.
In the morning, a train full of people will arrive in Gloucester for the day hailing from the coast.
There will be three shuttle services through the day on the Tin Hare for individuals and families to enjoy - it’s a very nostalgic and scenic experience.
We have a free bus service transporting people to and from the station so you can enjoy everything about the day without the worry of transport.
Our major sponsor of the event is MidCoast Council Water, Councils support of the event over the years has been significant and without it, the Festival might not have been as successful as it has been.
This year our other major sponsor is Gloucester Resources, Mr Clifford will be the judge of our prestigious "Best Beard" competition.
We are so grateful to all of our sponsors, so many local businesses in the past and again this year have made contributions some monetary and some in kind, all of this support enables our Festival to be so great.
We have loads of kids rides this year.
Big kids and little kids will have a blast on the Bungy Hungry Hippos and they can bounce till they’re all worn out on the jumping castle.
There are loads of other activities including Sandwizzard sand art, clowns, show bags, fairy floss, tattoos and face painting.
We’ve got some outdoor heaters to keep you warm, the best coffee around and street food that will make your mouth water just thinking about it.
