Players from as far away as Victoria made the journey to town for the Gloucester Bucketts Ladies Gala Day.
The day-long event, organised by the Gloucester Women’s Bowling Club, was held at the Gloucester Bowling Club on Wednesday, July 25.
Chairperson of the match committee, Margaret Andrews said it’s an important event as it brings people into the club, as well as being a friendly, social carnival.
All clubs from around the district were represented including players from Forster, Tuncurry, Wingham and Taree, plus players from Wauchope.
Twenty team set out to play on the frosty Gloucester morning and by the afternoon, they were basking in the sun.
Among the team of four, Gloucester had three teams representing the club. Each team played three games of 10 ends with the overall winners determined from the results.
The club changed the format a little bit this year so play finished earlier, giving the players time to get home before dark.
After the games were finished for the afternoon, the players enjoyed a little more socialising before the award presentation.
The club is very thankful for the generous support from the day’s sponsor, Gloucester Tax and Accounting, who have also already committed to sponsoring the event again next year.
