Marine studies teacher, Rob Seale organised for the Gloucester unit of the State Emergency Services (SES) to bring a bit of its equipment to the school for the students to have a look at and learn about how it all works.
The year nine students where given a chance to have a practical lesson on dry land which incorporated their recent lesson work covering water safety.
Students were able to get their hands on and try out some of the equipment the SES use during water rescue mission.
They were able to experience using boat flares, test out personal locator beacons (PLB) and practise throwing ropes in a method used to rescue people.
They got to try on wet and dry wetsuits and a range of life jackets as well as learning about boat use, equipment and maintenance.
