Spirit Day 2018
At the end of Term 2, Gloucester High School celebrated house spirit during their annual Spirit Day. Students were visited by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service community liaison officer, Adam Tyrell, who delivered a speech explaining their role within the community, as well as the incidents they are involved in. More than $650 dollars was raised, with all proceeds donated to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

Throughout the day, SRC members ran various activities, with students endeavouring to gain points for their house. These included yoga, drama games, recyclable fashion, cupcake decorating, plus many more.
House chants echoed across the school as students competed for extra points under the lead of their house captains.
To conclude the day, students competed in the final challenge, the house tug-a-war. Belbora and Kurricar progressed to the final, with the latter coming out on top. Despite this loss, Belbora proved too strong for the other houses, being named the Spirit Day Champions for 2018.
Hunter Valley excursion for year 12 hospitality
Year 12 Hospitality and Food Technology students recently travelled to the Hunter Valley to further their knowledge and understanding of the hospitality industry.
The excursion began with a tour of the Matilda Bay Brewery, before a pizza-making demonstration. Following this, students headed to the grape stomping area, where they were divided into two groups, each competing to see who could fill the bottle quickest.
With their shoes and socks off, and pants rolled up, students felt the cold, squishy grapes between their toes as the stomping began. Students then returned to the kitchen, where a variety of delicious toppings were waiting to be placed on the pizzas.
Students also explored the Hunter Valley Gardens Village, the Binorrie Cheese Factory and the Hunter Valley Chocolate Factory, where they enjoyed taste-testing of cheese, chocolate, fudge and lollies. Thank you to Mrs Harris, Mrs Cameron and Ms Ribbons for accompanying the students.
