Drifta claim third spot
With Drifta 16’s and Tuncurry Black coming to battle on Saturday (August 11), Drifta knew it was going to be a tough game, and needing to win this game to claim third place for the season.
Drifta dominated during the first half, with Zeke Llewellyn, Kayden Schumann and Beau Blanch providing Tuncurry’s defensive line and goalkeeper plenty of action. A solid pass made it across to Aiden Hawkins, going one on one with Tuncurry’s keeper, Aiden slotted the ball diagonally across the goal, placing Drifta in the lead for the remaining of the half. Tuncurry returned to the field and came out strong, attacking at every opportunity, tackling hard and creating numerous free kicks to Drifta, but unfortunately could not create a goal from them. Tuncurry found a gap in our defence and made a breakaway, taking a high chip shot, only to be shut down by Josh Anniwell’s super high save. Final score Gloucester Drifta 1, Tuncurry Black 0.
With Drifta winning the game, they have placed third for the season, a great result for such a young team. Drifta now plays Moorland this week in the semi final.
