Bulahdelah Central School (BCS) students took on teams from Gloucester High School in the Chris Hoare Cup at Jack Ireland Sports Ground recently. Sunny skies set the scene for the annual event, which had been postponed for a number of weeks due to bad weather.
The day kicked off in Bulahdelah’s favour with the under 15 girls soccer team securing a win against their fierce counterparts. The tables turned in the boys event, with the Gloucester team proving too strong to be unseated. The BCS girls touch football team also proved to be no match for the highly polished Gloucester open girls team.
The BCS under 14s rugby league team proved too strong for the Gloucester boys, with Tommy Keen, Khye Brown, Tyson Haenschke and Zachary Watt scoring tries for Bulahdelan. Angus Devon and Billy Watt also made their mark on the scoreboard. Bulahdelah’s open boys rugby league team bowed to a Gloucester outfit made up mostly of senior students.
After a day of fierce competition, the Chris Hoare Cup trophy was presented by Jenny and Steve Hoare to Gloucester.
Bulahdelah’s student representative council and multi category class, led by the very capable Nicole Depater at the barbecue hot plate worked well together to provide sausage sandwiches and cold drinks to the sports people and supporters.
