Every day 42 Australian women learn they have breast cancer and seven will lose their lives to the disease. Local organiser and BCNA Member Heather Kelly says it’s important to recognise the impact of breast cancer on not only the woman diagnosed but all those around her.
“Each time a woman hears she has breast cancer, those around her in the community are also affected. Support for women diagnosed, as well as their families and loved ones is an important issue in our local community.”
Breast Cancer Network Australia’s (BCNA) Mini-Field of Women events provide an opportunity for the public come together to pay tribute to all those affected by breast cancer.
“We hope people participating will find the event moving and enjoy it as a celebration of life.”
Local organiser Heather Kelly encourages the Great Lakes community to participate in the event to show support for the thousands of Australian women and families affected by this disease.
“Although breast cancer care and knowledge has come a long way, women are still being diagnosed every single day who need our support. I invite the whole community to join us, and to take the opportunity to leave a personal message of support on a Pink Lady silhouette.”
